Yanela shares her journey as a Latina navigating the complexities of healthcare, discussing her experiences with pregnancy complications, a hereditary heart condition, and the importance of being an advocate for one's health. Through personal stories and empowering insights, this episode highlights the need for women, particularly minority women, to prioritize their health and persist in seeking the care they deserve.

Program Specialist during the week, critical care EMT on weekends, but the most fulfilling role, a mother of two teenagers, wife to an amazing Law Enforcement Officer and a passionate and dedicated advocate for health equity, empowerment and serve as the voice for the voiceless. Driven by her own walk of life, Yanela Vickers escaped and migrated to America when she was 5 when her family fled Cuba bringing with her rich cultural knowledge and resiliency. Her continued public work along with healthcare in the EMS arena, she has gripped her skills into advocacy based on her personal challenges at such a young age. Through challenges while facing many obstacles, she has turned all those circumstances to positivity by illuminating real-life experiences for minority women and those impacted by similarity in shared experiences.
